Historical Context
The North River and New York Steamboat Company operated excursions on the Hudson River between New York City and Peekskill. Other stops included Haverstraw, Sing Sing (Ossining today), Tarrytown, Nyack, Dobbs Ferry, Yonkers, Tompkins Cove and Grassy Point.
Ships included the Chrystenah, Raleigh, Alexis and the Adelphi.
The boats were later sold in receivership to D. D. and T. Smith of New York.
