Historical Context
The Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad Company of New York was incorporated on October 12, 1887, and on November 28th of that same year, it was consolidated with the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railway Company of Pennsylvania to form the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad Company.
On February 5, 1895, the company was sold under foreclosure resulting in reorganization in New York as the Western New York Railway, and in Pennsylvania as the Northwestern Pennsylvania Railway.
In March of 1895 it was "re"-consolidated to form the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railway Company. That is one long, convoluted circle!!
