Historical Context
The Union Corporation was incorporated in New Jersey in 1938.
Over time, it became a very diversified concern, owning airlines, chemical companies, hotels and steel mills. The company even received a patent to manufacture soft contact lenses in the 1970's before selling the patent to the American Optical Corporation - a subsidiary of Warner-Lambert.
