Historical Context
The Columbia Technical Corporation was founded by Nikit Ordjanian in 1950 in New York. The company developed the HumiSeal line of conformal coatings for the electronics industry.
HumiSeal was designed to conform to and protect circuit boards. Its purpose is (it remains widely produced today) to protect electronic circuits from harsh environments that may contain moisture and/or chemical contaminants. The coating protects against various combinations of moisture, aggressive chemicals and vapors, salt sprays, large temperature variations, mechanical vibration, and even organic attack.
The company merged with the Chase Corporation to form the Columbia Chase Corporation.
