The Cambridge Eastern Railroad Company was incorporated in 1901 in Illinois.
The company was formed to construct a railroad from Sonders to Cambridge for the Rock Island and Peoria Railway. The "stub branch" as it was called was designed to make travel between Rock Island and Peoria more efficient.
