Historical Context
The Cape Cod Central Railroad Company was organized on March 28, 1861 by Chester Snow, Freeman Cobb, Joseph Cummings, E. W. Carpenter, Joseph Baker Jr., James Howes and Reuben Nickerson Jr.
The line ran from Yarmouth, through Dennis, Harwich and Brewster, before terminating at Town Cove in Orleans.
In 1868, the line was consolidated with the Cape Cod Branch Railroad to form the Cape Cod Railroad Company.
