Historical Context
The Arlington Copper Company was incorporated in New Jersey in 1900.
The Arlington mine - located a mere eight miles from New York City - was discovered in 1719 and was worked continuously until 1900 when the newly formed Arlington Copper Company took over operations.
The company built a mill, pwer plant, roasting furnaces and leaching tanks. Plans were to leach the copper with diluted Sulphuric Acid, but the process proved unsuccessful, and the operation was abandoned in 1903.
