Historical Context
The St. Francois County Railroad Company was a single-track standard-gauge electric railroad located entirely within the State of Missouri and extending from De Lassus to Esther. The tracks owned totaled 9.878 miles of main track and 3.237 miles of sidings and spurs - or a total of 13.116 miles of all tracks.
The company was formed in 1910 out of the ashes of the St. Francois County Railway Company, which had been placed in the hands of receivers on November 6, 1909. This company had been formed in 1904 as a successor to the St. Francois County Electric Railroad Company.
