Historical Context
The Gold Pan Mining Company was originally incorporated in Colorado in 1899. Two years later, the company was re-organized as a New Jersey entity.
The company - whose mine was located on the Fannie and Maggie placers and included over 1,700 acres along the Blue River in Breckenridge, Colorado - was responsible for developing the southern part of the town.
The Gold Pan Mining Company was reknowned for its machine shops, which transformed the town by bringing in electricity to southern Breckenridge and the surrounding mines.
However, the company was never profitable, and by 1906, was bankrupt. The property was subsequently conveyed to the Colorado Consolidated Electric Company.
