Home of the State Insane Asylum, Reform School for Girls and Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut's first local car lines were built by the Middletown Horse Railroad, which became the Middletown Street Railway in 1895.
The line was sold in 1904 to the Consolidated Railway Company.
