Historical Context
There were a trio of monorail related companies called the American Monorail Company in the early 1900's. One was in Cleveland, and manufactured monorails and cranes; while the other two were speculative concerns proposed to build monorail railroads in New York City and Baltimore, respectively.
It is impossible to tell to which company this certiifcate was tied, but in all likelihood it was the Cleveland concern, as they did have a Los Angeles presence (the certificate was issued in Los Angeles) and the dating (1920) seems more appropriate.
