Historical Context
The New York, Lackawanna and Western Railroad was chartered August 26, 1880, and opened September 17, 1882, to continue the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western from Binghamton west and northwest to Buffalo. The main line ran to the International Bridge to Ontario, and a branch served downtown Buffalo.
That same year, the company was leased to the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western.
