The West Indes Sugar Corporation was American corporation that operated sugar plants in the Dominican Republic and Cuba. The company was incorporated in Delaware and was established in 1932.
The company proceeded to absorb a number of smaller plants in Cuba in 1942 and became the largest sugar concern in the country. The company was seized by Castro's government in 1959. Up until the time of seizure, one of the company's biggest share holders was the Bush family (with George Herbert Walker serving on the board and George Herbert Walker, Jr. managing the company's interests.)
