Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the United States Electric Power Corporation dating back to the 1930's. This document, which contains the printed signatures of the company President and Secretary, was printed by Goes (Brown) or Hamilton Bank Note Company (Orange), and measures approximately 11" (w) by 8 1/2" (h).

The United States Electric Power Cororation was incorporated in Maryland in 1929.
Basically, the company, which was formed by Hydro Electric Securities and a group of American financiers, was started to take over the Standard Gas & Electric Company and the Standard Power & Light Corporation systems. H. M. Byllesby & Company was a partner in the takeover.
The company was declared insolvent in 1936 and the receiver for the company sued some former directors in the process.
