Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the Union Corporation dating back to the 1970's. This document, which carries the printed signatures of the company Chairman of the Board/President and Secretary, was printed by the Security-Columbian Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8" (h).
This certificate's vignette features an allegorical figure (Mercury) flying in front of a hemispherical map.
The Union Corporation was incorporated in New Jersey in 1938.
Over time, it became a very diversified concern, owning airlines, chemical companies, hotels and steel mills. The company even received a patent to manufacture soft contact lenses in the 1970's before selling the patent to the American Optical Corporation - a subsidiary of Warner-Lambert.
