Historical Context
The Troy and Bennington Railroad was incorporated on May 27, 1851, under the general laws of New York, for a term of 50 years. On May 3, 1901, its charter was extended for 50 years. The company's principal office was located in Troy, New York.
The line extended from Hoosick Junction, New York to the Vermont State line - a distance of just over 5.2 miles.
On June 30, 1900, the line was leased and operated by the Fitchburg Railroad.
On November 6, 1946, the company was purchased by the Boston and Maine Railroad.
