Stony Creek Railroad Company (Reading Branch)
Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Stony Creek Railroad Company dating back to the 1940's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Assistant Treasurer, was printed by Theo. Leonhardt & Son of Philadelphia and measures approximately 11" (w) by 7" (h).

The Stony Creek Railroad was incorporated on April 14, 1868 in Pennsylvania and opened on January 1, 1874.
The company's main line ran from Norristown to Lansdale, a distance of just over 10 miles. A second line - called the State Asylum Branch - ran from Asylum Junction to State Asylum.
The Stony Creek Railroad became the Stony Creek Branch under the Reading.
