Historical Context
This line was incorporated on February 26, 1874 as a consolidation of the St. Louis, Lawrence & Denver Railroad and the Lawrence & South-Western Railroad. The company's offices were located in Lawrence, Kansas.
The line operated over 60 miles of track from Pleasant Hill, Missouri to Lawrence, Kansas (the former St. Louis, Lawrence & Denver route) and 32 miles of track from Lawrence to Carbondale, Kansas (the former Lawrence & South-Western route.)
The line eventually became the Pleasant Hill & DeSoto Railroad, and was later acquired by the Union Pacific.
