Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the Second & Third Street Passenger Railway Company of Philadelphia dating back to the 1850's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Treasurer, was printed by the T. Sinclair Litho Company, and measures approximately 11 1/2" (w) by 8 1/2" (h).
This certificate features a vignette of a horse drawn trolley in front of Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion.

The Second & Third Street Passenger Railway Company of Philadelphia was incorporated 1858. The line was leased in1893 to Frankford & Southwark Railway, and subsequently leased in1893 to Electric Traction Company of Philadelphia.
In 1895, the Electric Traction Company of Philadelphia became the Union Traction Company.
