Nicely engraved antique specimen stock certificate from the Schenley Distillers Corporation dating back to the early to mid 1900's. This document, which carries the printed signatutres of the company President and Secretary, was printed by the Security Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8" (h).


The piece's stunning vignette features the company logo flanked on the left by a beautiful farming scene and on the right by waterfront industrial scene.

    Historical Context

    The Schenley Distillers Corporation was founded in 1933 as a successor to the Schenley Distilling Company.

    In 1936, the company became the sole importer of Dewer's Scotch Whiskey. Two years later, the company became the United States distributor of Bacardi Rum (the agreement was terminated in 1945.)

    Over the years, the company became a behemoth, acquiring countless distilleries, wineries and breweries.

    In 1987, the company was purchased by United Distillers.
