Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Rockcastle Cement & Lime Company dating back to the 1910's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Treasurer, was printed by the Security Bank Note Company and measures approximately 12 1/8" (w) by 8 3/4" (h). 

 

This certificate features a great vignette of an eagle with outstretched wings accompanied by a shield and a flag.

    Historical Context

    The Rockcastle Cement & Lime Company was incorporated on September 11, 1916 in Delaware, and later acquired the property of the Kentucky Portland Cement & Coal Company, which was sold at foreclosure and bought in by the bondholders.

    The company manufacture Portland cement and lime products at its 2,200 acre property located at Pine Hill, Rockcastle County, Kentucky.

    The company was financed by Baltimore-based capital.
