The Premium Register Company was incorporated in Virginia, and was based in Richmond.
The company manufactured a device that attached to early cash registers. When the sales attendant pushed the keys on the register to ring up a sale, the Premium Register device - which was attached to the top of the register - would revolve and display an attractive advertising message.
It was one of the earliest Point-of-Sale advertising methods, but the device never really took off - despite a test program with some National Cash Register models.
