Historical Context
The Pittsburgh & Eastern Railroad Company was formed in 1895 as a consolidation of the original Pittsburgh & Eastern Railroad (incorporated a year earlier), the Loyalhanna and Youghiogheny Railroad Company and the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Railroad.
On April 1, 1905 the line was consolidated with the Beech Creek Extension Railroad, the Curwensville and Bower Railroad and the Clearfield Southern Railroad to form the new Beech Creek Extension Railroad.
The line eventually fell under the control of the New York Central Railroad.
