Nicely engraved antique bond certificate from the Philadelphia City Passenger Railway Company dating back to the 1890's. This document, which has been signed by the company President and Secretary, was printed by the American Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 9 1/2" (w) by 14 1/4" (h).
This certificate features a pair of great vignettes - an electric trolley at the top and "The Reapers" at the bottom. There are also two additional scenes on the back of the piece (pictured above.)

The Philadelphia City Passenger Railway was incorporated 1859 running a line along Chestnut and Walnut Streets. It was later leased in 1884 to the West Philadelphia Passenger Railway Company.
The company's lines eventually became part of the Philadelphia Traction Company.
