Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company dating back to the 1970's. This document, which carries the printed signatures of the company President and Treasurer, was printed by the Security-Columbian Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8" (h).
The certificate's detailed vignette features a female figure with an urn sitting next to a small fountain.

Historical Context
The Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania in April of 1887.
The company was based in Wilkes Barre, and actually owned the land that currently houses the Montage Mountain ski resort. The company sold the land to a non-profit organization, Montage Inc., for $14 million in 1979.
In 1996, the company changed its name to PE Energy.
