Historical Context
This company was formed as a consolidation of all of Simon Patino's vast tin mining interests, primarily in Bolivia. For a time, it was the biggest tin producer in the world. The company was originally formed in 1924.
The company owned 47,000 acres of mining and placer claims; over 1,500 acres of mill sites, camp sites and water rights; and about 100 acres of surface rights.
The company also operated a railroad, with its main and spur lines covering over 64 miles.
Simon Patino earned the nickname "The Andean Rockefeller," and later became Bolivia's Minister to France.
