Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the Oswego and Rome Rail Road Company dating back to the 1890's. This document, which is signed by the company Vice President and Secretary, was printed by Hatch & Co. of New York and measures approximately 11 1/4" (w) by 6 1/2" (h).
This piece features a pair of vignettes - a train steaming past a columned building and a paddlewheeler at the top and the New York State Seal at the bottom.
You will receive the exact certificate pictured. Please note there is a tape repair of the left side margin and border on the back of the piece.
This line was incorporated in New York in 1863 to build a line connecting Oswego with Richland, via Pulaski and Mexico. In Richland, the line linked with the Rome, Watertown and Ogdensburg (RW&O) Railroad.
In 1866, the line was completed and was then immediately leased to the RW&O.
