    Historical Context

The Nixon-Nevada Copper Corporation controlled 1,400 acres of mineral land near Copperfield on the Western Pacific Railroad. The land held over 70 claims, 40 of which were patented. In 1915, the company's name was changed to the Nixon-Nevada Mining Company.

The company later merged with the Washoe Copper Company which owned 695 acres of mineral land on the northeast slope of Peavine Mountain in Washoe County, Nevada.

The company was succeeded by the Copperfield Mining Company. All the above companies were later consolidated to form the Nixon-Nevada Consolidated Mines Company.
