Historical Context
The New Lisbon Farm Telephone Company was incorporated in New York on May 15 1902. The company was organized in the town of Garrattsville by John D. Gregory, a local blacksmith and teacher.
The company's first line was strung the following year and by 1913, the company served Hartwick, New Lisbon, Laurens, Morris and Mt. Vision in addition to Garrattsville.
In 1946, the company was sold to the New York Telephone Company for the massive sum of $5,000.
