Historical Context
The New Jersey and New York Extension Railroad Company was incorporated in New York in 1886 for the purpose of constructing a railroad from a connection with the road of the New Jersey and New York Railroad to Haverstraw, New York. The date of its organization was June 10, 1886.
The company operated just over two miles of track and eventually fell under the control of the Erie Railroad Company.
