Historical Context
The Nevada Copper Company was incorporated in Nevada on August 8, 1902. The company worked the state's Azurite Mine, located in the Goodsprings Mining District in Clark County.
The first work done at the Azurite Mine was by the Nevada Mining & Smelting Company, which is reported to have shipped two cars·of copper ore prior to 1902. The Nevada Copper Company was organized in 1902 and, although it did considerable work, shipped only one car of ore before the Azurite Mining Company was organized in 1911 to take over the former company's assets.
