Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Nashville & Decatur Rail Road Company dating back to the 1970's. This document, which carries the printed signatures of the company President and Assistant Secretary, measures approximately 11 1/2" (w) by 8" (h).

This line originally dates back to the mid 19th century when the Tennessee & Alabama Central Rail Road, the Central Southern Railroad and the Tennessee & Alabama Rail Road were consolidated to form the Nashville and Decatur Railroad.
At its peak, the company operated over 130 miles of track, and was eventually taken over by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company in 1871.
