Organized in 1905, the Morganfield & Atlanta Railroad Company was officially conveyed to the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company in 1921.
The line extended from Providence, Webster County, Kentucky, to Morganfield, Union County, Kentucky, a distance of 25.33 miles.
All of the capital stock of the Morganfield & Atlanta Railroad Company was owned by the L&N, and the property was operated as part of the L&N system as soon as construction was completed in May, 1907.
