Historical Context
The Michigan Radio Corporation was incorporated in 1922 and was based in Grand Rapids.
The company operated under a sub-license from the Klitzen Radio Manufacturing Company, which had earlier signed a licensing agreement with Westinghouse. Westinghouse, not taking to well to the new Michigan Radio sub-license, sued the Klitzen and Michigan firms.
Running scared, Klitzen canceled the Michigan sub-license resulting in Michigan falling on hard times. However, by 1924, somehow the whole mess was cleared up with Michigan becoming a sales agent for Klitzen after a $26,000 royalty payment to Westinghouse.
Michigan was known for its Midget, Four, Junior and Senior sets, amongst others.
In 1927, the Imperial Radio Corporation was formed in Grand Rapids to acquire the properties of the Michigan Radio Corporation and the Klitzen Radio Manufacturing Company.
