Historical Context
The Lever Suspension Brake Company was incorporated in Maine in 1902, and was based at 60 State Street in Boston, Massachusetts.
The comapny's brake as said to be a "marked improvement over any other now in use, and to obviate entirely the tendency of car wheels to become flattened through long continued use." The brakes were put into use on the Newton circuit of the Boston & Albany Railroad for some months, where they were installed for the purpose of giving them the thorough test of actual use.
There is no evidence the company ever became commerically viable.
