Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago Railroad Company dating back to the 1940's. This document, which was printed by the American Bank Note Company, is signed by the company Vice President and Secretary, and measures approximately 11" (w) by 7 1/2" (h).
This certificate's fantastic vignette features a train pulling into a crowded wharfside station. A schooner can be seen in the background.

The Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago Railroad was incorporated in 1878 and was controlled by the Chicago and Alton Railroad Company. The company was organized to build the Missouri extension from Mexico, Missouri, to Kansas City.
The road opened on the May 1, 1879.
In 1949, the line was taken over by the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad.
