Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the Kansas City and Topeka Railway Company dating back to the 1880's. This document was printed by Geo. W. Crane & Co. of Topeka and measures approximately 11 1/2" (w) by 7 1/2" (h).

Historical Context
The Kansas City and Topeka Railway Company was organized in Kansas in 1887 by Marcus Low to build a road between the two named cities. It operated independently for a brief period before becoming part of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway.
The line was later was merged into the Illinois Central system.
