Historical Context
International Computers (Holdings) Limited was formed in 1968 as a result of a government backed merger of two of the United Kingdon's computer manufacturers - International Computers and Tabulators and English Electric Computers.
At one time, the firm was the largest computer company in Europe, but succumbed to IBM when the American company started winning Euopean contracts critical to ICL's survival.
