Nicely engraved antique stock certificate from the Indianapolis Southern Railway dating back to the early 1900's. This document was printed by Wm. B. Burford Lith. of Indianapolis and measures approximately 11 1/2" (w) by 8 3/4" (h).

The Indianapolis Southern Railway was formed by a group of local businessmen in 1899.
The line began service in 1906 between Indianapolis and Switz City, Greene County, Indiana. There it linked with the Indiana and Illinois Southern.
The Illinois Central Railroad assumed control in 1909, creating a single line from Indianapolis to Effingham, Illinois.
