Product Details
Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Indianapolis and Northwestern Traction Company dating back to the early 1900's. This document, which has been signed by the company Vice President and Treasurer, was printed by the American Bank Note Company and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8 1/4" (h).
The certificate's intricate vignette features a pair of female allegorical figures flanking a dynamo. Also visible are two trolleys and a city skyline.

Historical Context
The Indianapolis and Northwestern Traction Company was incorporated in Indiana and operated a system of over 90 miles with lines from Indianapolis to Lafayette and from Lebanon to Crawfordsville.
The company fell under the control of the Terre Haute, Indianapolis & Eastern Traction Company in 1907. Other lines falling under the control of the THI&E at the same time were:
- Indianapolis & Eastern Railway Company (to Richmond)
- Indianapolis & Martinsville Rapid Transit Company
- Indianapolis & Western Railway Company (to Danville)
- Indianapolis, Crawfordsville & Western Traction Company
