The Hiteman Leather Company was incorporated in New York and was based in West Winfield.
The company operated as a tannery on a 12-acre site on Route 51 from 1820 to 1968, preparing tanned and finished calf skins.
The company marketed their product - which was primarily used in the production of shoes - under the "Apex" and "Unadilla" monikers.
