The Gulfport and Mississippi Coast Traction Company originated in Gulfport and ran along the Mississippi coastline. The line extended eastward to Biloxi (13 miles) and westward to Pass Christian (11 miles.)
The line carried both passenger and freight traffic, but passenger was discontinued in 1926 - a victim to the growing popularity of the automobile.
