Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the Germantown Avenue Elevated Passenger Railway Company dating back to the early 1900's. This document was printed by William H. Hoskins of Philadelphia and measures approximately 11 1/2" (w) by 7 3/4" (h).
This certificate's vignette features the Pennsylvania State Seal.

Historical Context
The Germantown Avenue Elevated Passenger Railway Company was incorporated in Pennsylvania by the Mack-Foederer Sydicate on June 8, 1901.
The line ran from Philadelphia's Front Street along Germantown Avenue to the Germantown & Perkiomen Turnpike, to the county line.
In 1903, the line was merged into the Market Street Elevated Passenger Railway Company, along with:
- Broad Street Subway Passenger Railway Company,
- Frankford Elevated Passenger Railway Company
- Passyunk Avenue Elevated Passenger Railway Company
- Ridge Avenue Elevated Passenger Railway Company
