Historical Context
The East Bay Transit Company was incorporated in California in 1936 as a reorganization of East Bay Street Railways, Limited. The company became a subsidiary of the Bay area's Key System in 1942 when the company was renamed Key System Transit Lines under its new owner National City Lines.
The company operated trolley lines and maintained the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The company's trolleys were white and yellow. Streetcar service was discontinued in 1948 and converted to buses.
