The Docks Connecting Railway was incorporated April 17, 1886, under the general laws of New Jersey to construct and operate a railroad from a point east of the Bergen tunnel in Jersey City to Union, all in Hudson County.
The line was only completed from a connection with the railroad of the Long Dock Company, east of Bergen tunnel, to a connection with the railroad of the New Jersey Junction Railroad Company, near Seventeenth and Monmouth Streets - a distance of just under a mile.
The line was eventually controlled by the Erie.
