Historical Context
The Crystal Water Company was incorporated in New York in 1880's and was based in Staten Island, Richmond County. The company served the communities of Edgewater, Middletown and Southfield. The company's pipe line crossed into Northfield to a pumping station at Bull's Head. The company later developed addtional pumping stations at Clove Road and Grant City to serve communities in Staten Island's Second and Fourth Wards. On October 10, 1906, the City of New York purchased the company for $720,563.44 |
