Beautifully engraved antique bond certificate from the Coal River Railway Company dating back to the early 1900's. This document, which is signed by the company Vice President and Secretary, was printed by the International Bank Note Company and measures approximately 10 1/4" (w) by 14 3/4" (h).

The Coal River Railway Company was incorporated in Charleston, West Virginia in 1905. The line was critical to opening up the coal mining and timbering region along the Coal River in Southern West Virginia.
The line eventually became a full-fledged branch of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Company.
