Historical Context
The Chicago, Terre Haute and Southeastern Railway Company was incorporated in Indiana on November 26, 1910. The company was a successor to the Evansville & Richmond Railroad Company, Southern Indiana Railway Company, Chicago Southern Railway Company, Bedford Belt Railway Company, and The Chicago, Terre Haute & Southeastern Railway Company of Illinois. Of the predecessor lines, all but the Evansville & Richmond Railroad Company retained their corporate identity.
