Product Details
Intricately engraved antique stock certificate from the Chicago and Oak Park Elevated Railway Company dating back to the early 1900's. This document, which is signed by the company President and Assistant Treasurer, was printed by the Western Bank Note Company, and measures approximately 12" (w) by 8" (h).
This certificate features a pair of beautiful vignettes - an allegorical angel on a winged wheel to the left, and an elevated train to the right.

Historical Context
The Chicago and Oak Park Elevated Railway Company was incorporated on April 22, 1904, under the laws of New Jersey to hold the securities of the Chicago and Oak Park Elevated Railroad Company, which was the successor to the Lake Street Elevated Railroad. The Lake Street Elevated Railroad Company was incorporated in 1888.
The company operated just over 22 miles of track in Chicago, running along Lake Street from Market Street to Austin and Oak Park.
