    Historical Context

The roots of this line date back to 1900 with the incorporation of the Philadelphia & Chester Railway Company, which consolidated the Philadelphia & Delaware Street Railway and Prospect Street Railway.

The line was reorganized in 1910 as Chester & Philadelphia Railway Company, and was immediately leased to the Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company.
